How a Regulatory Shift Inspired a New Category
Moongrass was founded by Trey Carver after Georgia began tightening regulations around cannabis flower, THCA flower, and other hemp-derived smokable products. As loopholes closed and flower-based items were eliminated from shelves, Trey recognized the need for a fundamentally different approach.
Instead of relying on cannabis or hemp plant material, Trey set out to create an herbal smoking blend with THC that contained no flower at all. After extensive research, testing, and formulation, Moongrass emerged as a smooth, aromatic alternative designed to mimic the experience consumers were familiar with—without violating evolving regulations.
To further protect long-term viability, Delta-8 THC was selected as the foundational cannabinoid due to its stability, consumer familiarity, and lower likelihood of near-term prohibition at the time of development.
